Product Details

The War Merit Cross with Swords was instituted on the 11th October, 1939, and was awarded for civilian or military merit which did not involve combat service on the front line. This is the 2nd Class version with swords, which were awarded for bravery.

In 1957 a series of awards were re-designed with the removal of the swastika, which allowed WW2 veterans serving in the newly formed Bundeswehr to wear medals they had earned previously.

This medal is die struck with an antique bronze finish. The medal also comes with 6 inches of the according War Merit ribbon.
