Mother's Cross in Gold - 1st Pattern

The Gold standard of the Mother's Cross was bestowed as a 'Fuhrergeschenk' (gift of the Fuhrer) to mothers of eight or more children. The first pattern of the medal bore the inscription on the reverse reading 'Das Kind adelt die Mutter', meaning 'the child ennobles the mother'.
