Product Details

An excellent reproduction of the award, featuring a 1939 Iron Cross set onto a gold eight pointed star.

The Imperial Star of the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross was worn on the left breast, using the vertical pin on the reverse.

Earlier versions of the star were only ever awarded to two people: Field Marshalls Gebhard von Blucher in 1813 and Paul von Hindenburg a century later in 1918. This 1939 version was created for Adolf Hitler in the event of victory in WW2, though ultimately never awarded, making this one of the rarest medals in history. The only known prototype was seized by American forces, following the Allied victory in May 1945, and is now on display at Westpoint Military Academy in New York.
