The ‘Militär-Verdienstorden’ was Bavaria’s main decoration rewarding bravery and military merit and was bestowed on officers and higher-ranking officials. The crossed swords mounted on the order indicated a wartime award.
This example of the 2nd Class award is die struck and finished in enamel and gold plate, with a vertical pin on the reverse for fitting to the tunic.
