Product Details

The regiment was created during a reduction of troops following WW1, amalgamating the 13th Hussars and the 18th Royal Hussars in 1922. It was renamed in 1935 as13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary's Own) after Queen Mary, who was Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment. Just prior to the outbreak of WW2 the regimen underwent mechanisation and was transferred into the Royal Armoured Corps. Finally it was combined with other regiments to form the Light Dragoons in 1992.

They were involved with many large conflicts during WW2, including D-Day.

This fine reproduction of the regiment badge features a Queen's crown above a Z-shaped scroll that is superimposed over the monogram 'QMO'. The top of the scroll is embossed with the Roman numeral 'XIII', the lower part with 'XVIII'. The diagonal arm of the scroll is inscribed 'Royal Hussars'. It has an aged look, and is designed to be pinned to a beret, but does not come with an attachment pin.
