US Collar Discs - Transport (Vanguard)

A matching pair of US collar discs from the Transport 2 branch of the US military, featuring a ship's helm, and a shield inset with a winged wheel.

Manufactured by Vanguard, these original, unissued, insignia are made with gold-coloured metal and come with the maker's V-21 mark which date them from the Mid 1960's-70's. They measure approx. 1 inch in diameter, and are sold with the original card backing of Vanguard.

During the war they were made in a single piece to conserve materials, but these post-war badges are constructed in a two-piece fashion, and come with two clutch pins on the reverse for fastening to the lapels. The insignia itself is detachable from the disc, and would have been worn separately by officers.
