Product Details

The Royal Scots is the oldest Infantry Regiment of the Line in the British Army and can trace its history back to 1633. It was raised by Charles I to serve in France as bodyguard to Louis XIII (Charles' brother-in-law). The regiment didn't return to British soil until 1661, after the Civil War and the Restoration of Charles II. In 1751 the regiment was renamed as the First Regiment of Foot. It served in theatres of War all across the world, in the Napoleonic Wars, in the Third Mahratta War, and the Second Boer War. In 2006 it was amalgamated into the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Notable conflicts include the Spanish and Austrian Wars of Succession, the Seven Years War, and both World Wars.

This fine reproduction of the pre-2006 regiment badge features a silver star and cross with the figure of St. Andrew in the middle in gilt, below is a banner inscribed 'The Royal Regiment'. It has an aged look, and is designed to be pinned to a beret, but does not come with an attachment pin.
